Culver City Unified Leads the Way with New Requirements for Students
Vaccines and Masks are the top two strategies to overcome the dangers of Covid-19. But in our culture where individual rights too often outweigh collective responsibility, some were surprised when on August 11th, CA announced the nation’s first ‘vax-or-test’ rules for school staff. That was only three weeks ago, and with labor groups on board, the expectations have gone largely without push-back.
HOWEVER, will mandating student vaccines go as smoothly? We’ll soon find out. Culver City USD in Southern California now mandates that all eligible students be vaccinated or go to independent study. Moreover, all staff and students will be tested weekly, going above and beyond the State and CDC guidelines.
TRiGroup’s Advice: CA prides itself on local control, which means we depend on local leaders who make responsible (and sometimes controversial) decisions. This topic is moving quickly. Be sure to weigh all your options, keeping students and staff above political controversy.
