Short-Term Quarantine Protocols

Be Prepared to Coordinate and Communicate Quickly

With schools fully opened and the virus still spreading through communities, it’s no surprise that schools will find positive cases among their students and staff. Schools need to plan ahead for the complicated protocols to continue educating students while they’re at home on a short-term quarantine. In fact, the latest guidelines clarify that students who are exposed don’t necessarily have to go home on quarantine IF they are vaccinated and IF they continue to wear masks. They do need regular testing.

In LAUSD, the latest mandate states that classroom teachers will either live-stream from the classroom, or from home themselves if they are also in quarantine, preventing a revolving door of students going in and out of a separate independent study program. However, it is important to note that in this case, the teachers’ union has not yet reached a bargaining agreement on this matter and is now pushing back.

TRiGroup’s Advice: Establish these protocols and procedures as soon as possible. Meet with and confer with your teachers on these protocols as well. Best practice is to avoid labor strife and get their agreements. At TRiGroup, we’re helping schools address these very same issues, so we’re prepared to offer advice.
